We all know the Gobbler as the quintessential Thanksgiving leftovers sandwich, but why not mix things up a bit and let this Jammed With Leftovers Panini help you clean out your fridge while keeping your tastebuds happy!
The name is a tribute to the star of this sandwich: Jammed With Love’s Holiday Jam, which features cranberry, orange and spices like cinnamon and cloves. It truly lives up to its name by evoking all the best flavors of the holiday season, and it stands out against the mild taste of leftover turkey.
Throw in your favorite cheese from The Farmhouse Meats and Cheese and anything else that tickles your fancy from the fridge (I added Brussels sprouts and dijon mustard,) and you’ll have a meal that is delicious, satisfying, and, most importantly, easy to prepare!
Ingredients:
2 slices sourdough bread from Wright's Family Coop
1 Tbsp butter, softened
Approximately 1-2 tsps Holiday Jam by Jammed With Love
Favorite melting cheese from The Farmhouse Meats and Cheese, shredded or cut into thin slices (suggestion: Sage and Herb Cheddar)
Enough thinly sliced leftover turkey to fit on the sandwich bread
Optional add-ins such as mayonnaise, dijon mustard, Brussels sprouts, onions, etc.
Instructions:
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat.
Spread the butter on one side of each slice of bread, placing one of the slices butter-side down on the pan.
Top the slice with cheese, the turkey, any vegetable add-ons, and more cheese on top.
Allow to cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Meanwhile, spread the jam on the non-buttered side of the other piece of bread and place on top of the cheese, jam-side down.
Carefully flip the sandwich over and place a heavy-bottomed skillet on top of it to press the sandwich down while it browns on the other side.
The panini is done when the bread is golden-brown and the cheese is all melted. Serve warm with any additional condiments - and ENJOY!
