Meet Thanksgiving Pop-up Vendor, East Wind Candle Co.

ree

Tell us the history behind East Wind Candle Co.?

When my son went off to college, I found myself with extra time and started looking for a hobby that was completely different from my day to day. I’ve always loved candles and was frustrated with the options I found on the market. The premium soy candles were incredibly expensive and underwhelming—poor scent throw, weak burn. I knew there had to be a better way. I began experimenting and after months of testing and refining, East Wind Candle Co was born, delivering a superior, clean-burning soy candle that offered an amazing scent at a better, accessible price.

What type of products do you provide?

I make 100% soy candles, hand poured in my kitchen, using a variety of oils to give it that amazing scent. Traditional candles come in 12 oz glass jars and have approximately a 45 hour burn time, when the wick is trimmed properly.

Why are your locally made products unique?

I don’t use traditional, prominent labels on our candles.  I believe that the experience—the exceptional scent throw and quality of the product—is the true purchasing motivator, not the marketing on the jar.  My jars have a clean, clear and minimalist look that allows the candle to integrate seamlessly into any room. All essential details, including the scent name and warning label are affixed to the bottom of the jar.

What can the community expect to see from you at the Thanksgiving Pop-up?

I look forward to another Thanksgiving pop-up, highlighting the fall and holiday line as well as the most popular year round scents.  Similar to last year, I will have holiday themed novelty candles, including holiday mugs, hobnail glass and gift baskets that include a variety of holiday candles, wick trimmers and matches making them the perfect gift.

What do you love most about living on the South Shore?

As a Plymouth native,  I can’t imagine living anywhere else.  It’s the perfect location between Cape Cod and Boston.  Each community has something special to offer.

If you had to pick one fellow vendor to buy from, who would it be and why?

This is a tough one - there are so many fantastic vendors at the market.  I  really enjoy the cheeses we get from The Farmhouse Meats & Cheese. I love to use them in a panini (usually with fresh vegetables from Cushing Farm on sourdough from Wright’s Family Coop).
