1) Tell us about yourself.
Hardly Saints Donuts was founded by Camden Moya and Anissa Davidson, who have been friends since high school and married since 2021. We moved from Texas to Boston for school—Camden attended Suffolk Graduate School and Anissa went to New England Law Boston. We quickly fell in love with Massachusetts and, on the recommendation of locals, moved to Pembroke in 2021.
In 2023, we began exploring the idea of opening a food truck. After perfecting our donut recipe over the course of a year and partnering with a reliable local coffee roaster, we found our dream truck in the fall of 2023. By March 2024, we held our first event in Pembroke and have been happily serving our community ever since.
2) What type of goods does Hardly Saints provide?
We specialize in crafting hand-cut, gourmet brioche donuts that are as delightful to look at as they are to eat. To complement our delicious donuts, we also offer a range of expertly crafted espresso-based drinks.
3) What fall-themed donut flavors will you have for September and October?
So far, we’ve added Caramel Apple Crumble, Brown Butter Maple, and Blackberry Cobbler to our menu. However, we change our menu every week, and on Sundays, we hold an Instagram poll so our followers can have a say in which flavors make it to the menu! So, the flavors are always in flux. Of course, in October, we hope to introduce apple cider donuts. We’re still perfecting the recipe, but we think it’s almost ready.
4) Can you tell us the story behind the super cool Hardly Saints truck?
We absolutely love vision boards! Before we even started looking for a food truck, we created a vision board that perfectly captured our vibe, filled with images of vintage Citroën vehicles. It took some time, but we eventually found a food trailer modeled after the trucks we adored. It felt like destiny when it traveled from Argentina to Pembroke to be with us.
5) What do you love more - donuts or coffee - and why?
That’s a tough question, but we have to say the donuts! Before each Pembroke Farmers Market, we wake up at 4 AM to start making our donut dough. They are truly a labor of love, and it’s incredibly satisfying to spend all morning baking, cutting, and decorating, only to see people line up to enjoy them.
6) What do you value most about our community here in Pembroke?
We have received tremendous support in this business venture. Boston Connect allowed us to park outside their building regularly to serve the community, and at our very first event, we ran out of donuts in about ten minutes. It became immediately clear that we needed to increase the volume of our operation, and the community continued to support us as we figured it out. This community gave us a chance to grow and has consistently encouraged us.
The Pembroke Farmers Market, in particular, has highlighted how much our community loves to come together. Every market day, we see familiar faces and new ones, all coming together to enjoy local goods and support small businesses. It’s a wonderful feeling to be part of such a vibrant, supportive community. On top of that, we’ve met some fantastic people in this town. Coffee and donuts are a great way to start a conversation.
7) What's your favorite item to buy at the Pembroke Farmers Market from another vendor?
What a tough question! We regularly find ourselves buying cheese from The Farmhouse Meats, produce from Oakdale Farm, and cookies from Blackbird Baking Co. Honestly, all the vendors at the Pembroke Farmers Market are fantastic, and there are constantly new ones joining, which keeps things exciting. It’s a great place to discover unique, high-quality products and support local businesses.
